Build vocabulary that counts
Admin1 November 2026 1 min read
Single words are easy to forget and hard to use. Learn collocations instead: reduce emissions, meet a deadline, a growing consensus.
Keep a small notebook
For each new word, write:
- The sentence where you found it
- One more example of your own
- The word family (noun, verb, adjective)
Review on a schedule
Spaced repetition shows a word again just before you would forget it. Even ten minutes a day makes a visible difference over a month.
| When | What you do |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Learn the word and write your sentence |
| Day 3 | Test yourself on the meaning |
| Day 7 | Use it in speaking or writing |
| Day 21 | Final check |
Use it
Try to use each new word once in speaking and once in writing during the week.
- Five new collocations this week
- One sentence of my own for each
- Each one used in an answer

Save the words you meet
Review them with spaced repetition so they stay.
