Note-taking for Listening Section 4

You hear a lecture once. Use the question paper as your notes.

The problem

Section 4 has no pause between questions. If you try to write full notes, you will miss the next answer.

Use the question as a map

The incomplete notes or summary follow the order of the lecture. Before the recording starts, read them and predict the topic of each gap.

During the lecture

• Listen for signposts: There are two main causes, first of all, another factor.
• Write only the missing words.
• Use abbreviations you know.

After the lecture

You usually get time to check.

• Spelling is correct
• The word limit is respected
• The word fits grammatically (singular or plural, noun or verb)
