What a band 7.5 answer sounds like
The place I'd like to describe is Da Nang, a coastal city in central Vietnam that I visited last summer with my parents and my younger brother.
We based ourselves in a modest hotel a few minutes from the beach, and the days fell into a pleasant rhythm: swimming in the morning, a long seafood lunch, and then wandering around the markets when it got cooler. One day we took a cable car up to the Golden Bridge, a walkway that appears to be held up by two enormous stone hands. It was packed with tourists, which rather spoiled it, but the view across the mountains more than made up for the crowds.
What makes the trip stand out, though, is less the sights than the company. My father works punishing hours, and I can't remember the last time I saw him properly switch off. Watching him doze on the beach with a newspaper over his face, I realised how rarely we'd all been in one place with nothing to do.
So, in a way, it was a holiday that reminded me what a holiday is for, and I'd happily go back, preferably in spring, when it isn't quite so scorching.
