General Task 1: A letter to a friend (informal)

General Task 1 172 words 1 min read

Task

A friend is coming to stay with you for a weekend. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter: suggest what you could do together, tell your friend what clothes to bring, and give directions from the station to your home.

Band 6.0 answer

Dear Sam,

Thanks for your letter. I'm so happy that you are coming to stay with me next weekend! I can't wait to see you.

I have some ideas about what we could do. On Saturday we could go to the old town, which has many nice shops and cafes. In the evening there is a concert in the park, and I think you will like it. On Sunday, if the weather is good, we can go for a walk by the lake.

About clothes, it can be cold in the evening, so please bring a warm jacket. You should also bring comfortable shoes for walking. I'll lend you an umbrella, because it often rains here.

When you arrive at the station, come out of the main entrance and turn left. Walk along Park Road for about ten minutes until you see a big supermarket. My flat is on the second floor of the building opposite it, number 14.

Call me if you get lost. See you on Friday!

Best wishes,
Mai
